The program is open to current undergraduate students attending a nonprofit public or private two-year or four-year college or university in Virginia. Students may complete one Micro-Internship funded through this program. The goal is to expand equitable access to high-quality work-based learning opportunities for undergraduate students across the Commonwealth. This initiative supports the statewide goal of ensuring that every student completes at least one paid or credit-bearing student internship or work-based learning (WBL) opportunity by the time they graduate.
Through state-support funding, employers located in Virginia are able to participate in the program by posting a Micro-Internship for a Virginia student at no-cost. More details will be provided during the webinar including how students and employers can get started!
Micro-Internships offer students the chance to gain hands-on experience in their field of study, build professional networks, and explore potential career paths in Virginia. This will support the professional readiness of students by providing real, paid, professional experiences with local employers.
This is an opportunity for employers to engage students in Micro-Internships to broaden their talent pipeline. Parker Dewey makes this process easy by providing a platform to quickly post these opportunities, engage the students, provide support to the students/organizations when working with each other, and process the payment to the student upon completion. Plus, there's no-cost to the company if they want to hire the student long-term.
Thanks to the support of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia through the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership, Virginia organizations can post Micro-Internships for Virginia students at no-cost.
No, there is no cost for students, schools, or employers to participate in the Virginia Micro-Internship Experience. Program funding, including payment to the students, is provided by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia through the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership. The program is designed to provide equitable access to career-building opportunities for all students.
Micro-Internships cover a wide range of industries and roles, including marketing, finance, human resources, data analysis, and more. Projects funded through this program are intended to take the students approximately 15 hours to complete.
Students can only complete 1 project that is funded by the Virginia Micro-Internship Experience. The students will receive $315 upon completion paid by Parker Dewey.
